All Natural Beauty

"Your hair is so pretty and long," "Is that all yours?" Sisters nowadays are replying, "Why yes, it is!"

Black women's hair plays an integral role in our daily lives. It determines how pretty we feel, and even how society accepts us. Whether your hair is long and straight, or short and curly; the plethora of styles black women experiment with unveils our inner beauty and ability to rock just about any look.

Crack is wack. Hair crack that is. After Chris Rock's documentary about black women's hair, several issues came about. Perms have been proven to damage black women's hair in a way that causes permanent damage, however, many still resort to
this type of chemical processing to maintain a "nice" looking grade of hair.
But in 2010, many women say to hell with that and going natural is the thing to do! At first, I thought this was just a decision based on the type of hair you have, but many women are learning that it doesn't matter what type of hair you may have, perms are deadly to the dome.

Going natural takes time and it can be challenging for a sister who is used to crack every month or so. But, it can be done. Here are some helpful tips on maintaining the natural do:

1. Keep your ends clipped and a good conditioner. This will prevent breakage and will also expedite outgrowing the perm.
2. Wrap your hair at night and try to use less heat. Heat causes damage and thinning, so put that Chi down and wrap your hair at night.
3. Going natural doesn't have to be every one's business. Sew it up! Sew ins actually expedite the growth process because you are letting your hair rest. Be sure to wash it and leave it in for about a month or so. Let your scalp breathe in between sew ins and keep those ends clipped!
4. Claim your liberation!
Black women are often lulled into believing "Anything like white is right." But that's not so, let us embrace our short do, or our big, wild hair!

So whether you press it, wrap it, sew it, or perm it; know that Black Hair is apart of our culture and KNOW that Black is Beautiful.

It's a man's world, Let's Remember

SO. I am a strong advocate for liberation for all oppressed people, including the category that I fall in: black women. I took a few undergraduate courses that focused on Women's studies and various social issues many deal with on a daily basis. One thing that always got me was the origin of all this hate. I mean where do we get these ideas that some groups are unworthy of respect and inclusion in this hectic society?
Well.. I came across a startling article from following my dear @_TheIlluminati on Twitter.. Man o Man. This was one that pushed me over the edge; primarily because it states the facts. Anywho, the moral of the story is Black Feminisim was designed by the CIA to destroy black families. Yes. the CIA to destroy black families. But is it really that hard to believe? I mean the Prison Industrial Complex is used as a tool to maintain highly populated prisons for the benefit of private corporations and our dear Big Brother.
Take a look at this article and spread the word...
I conclude by asking black women to be the leaders of reclaiming the inner love and beauty of black families, with this security; we can ensure the solidification of the institution of the black family today.
Black women let's unite and start loving our black men.... Flaws and all. BUT let's not forget the role of a man in a woman's life, if he isn't fulfilling his duties he can step. But we have got to do better and giving love and chance and put a pause to the male bashing..
Apparently, the CIA's plan to destroy black families is working... Let's change that!

CIA used Black Feminism to destroy black families
By on 29 August 2010 in The RebirthView Comments

What follows is a fact sheet about Gloria Steinem’s operations against the various social and political movements in America, particularly her role in creating a hateful and virulent strain of Black feminism that attacks Black men while partnering with the white establishment.

Gloria Steinem first came across the radar of Black men in 1978 when Steinem put a book called “Black Macho and the Myth of the Superwoman” on the cover of Ms. Magazine, the magazine which she controlled. The book was “written” by a Black “feminist” and “activist” named Micele Wallace who came out of nowhere. Wallace was in her early twenties at the time, yet she was being touted as the “leader” of Black feminism. In the book, Wallace called abolitionists like Harriet Tubman and Sojouner Truth “ugly” and “stupid” for supporting Black men. She called Black Revolutionaries “chauvinist macho pigs” and advised Black women to “go it alone.” Gloria Steinem said that Wallace’s book would “define the future of Black relationships” and she pushed hard to make sure the book received massive publicity. Gloria Steinem’s work triggered a flood of “Hate Black Men” books and films that continues to this day. Needless to say, some were quite suspicious of Ms. Magazine and Gloria Steinem. Why was Steinem sticking her nose into the affairs of the Black community? So people started doing some research on Steinem. When it came out that Gloria Steinem was probably the ghost writer of the book with Michele Wallace’s name on it, Wallace had a nervous breakdown and went into hiding for two years. However, the damage was already done and the “Hate Black Men” movement was off and running. But the research into Gloria Steinem’s background continued. What follows is the findings of many different researchers.

Post-Grad

I graduated college, now what?!

As a recipient of my B.A. in Communications from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, I am a proud alumnae and college graduate.. now what?! Students are often led to believe that one's dream job awaits you immediately following graduation but, this is not the case. In fact, students should realize that the ball is in your court now! A degree certifies your dedication to furthering one's education and creating a new pathway for self. However, what one decides to do with his or her degree is where the challenge arises.

After a long, vigorous search into the current job market, I learned that those "dream jobs" do exist, but are hidden. It calls for now what you know; but who you know. In this tough economy, one must realize that earning a degree is only the beginning. Depending on your area of study, one will have to create their own pathway, how so?

1. Set long-term goals for yourself.
With these targeted goals, you will be able to map out what steps need to be taken in order to reach these goals.
2. Consider post-graudate work.
If you feel that you may lack in an area that will be beneficial towards your long-term goals; consider graduate work in that field. It can only enhance your professional career.
3. Stay active!
Continue to exercise the skills acquired during undergraduate coursework such as volunteering, engaging in service organizations, and other field related activities
4. Be optomistic!
The only person standing in the way of your dreams is you! Know that the sky is the limit and the world is yours. With a positive attitude comes positive results.

Be an awesome gra.... pave our own way!

The BITCH Manifesto
by Joreen

Written in the fall of 1968, this paper was first published in Notes from the Second Year ed. by Shulamith Firestone and Anne Koedt, 1970. It was later reprinted as a pamphlet by KNOW, Inc., and reprinted in several books.

...man is defined as a human being and woman is defined as a female. Whenever she tries to behave as a human being she is accused of trying to emulate the male...
Simone de Beauvoir

BITCH is an organization which does not yet exist. The name is not an acronym. It stands for exactly what it sounds like.
BITCH is composed of Bitches. There are many definitions of a bitch. The most complimentary definition is a female dog. Those definitions of bitches who are also homo sapiens are rarely as objective. They vary from person to person and depend strongly on how much of a bitch the definer considers herself. However, everyone agrees that a bitch is always a female, dog, or otherwise.
It is also generally agreed that a Bitch is aggressive, and therefore unfeminine (ahem). She may be sexy, in which case she becomes a Bitch Goddess, a special case which will not concern us here. But she is never a "true woman."
Bitches have some or all of the following characteristics.
